I have to second Give Me Love by George Harrison. Such a beautiful song.
Also, for the second week in a row, I have to choose The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down by The Band.
Finally, Springsteen's Shut Out The Light. This was the B side to Born in the USA. The veteran comes home and on the surface everything is great. He's welcomed home my his family. He's got his job. He's got his girl. He's got his car. Everything's great, just don't shut out the light. Poignant.
And may I be the first to honorably mention “Shipbuilding”, written and smokily recorded by Robert Wyatt to protest the Falklands War between Britain and Argentina. Elvis Costello had a hit covering it; Suede (The London Suede) covered it for the War Child compilation LP, Brett Anderson’s voice somehow riffing off the song rather effectively. A beautiful piece of songwriting in any artist’s hands.
“A Thousand Stars” by the wonderful Big Country, from their 1983 debut LP “The Crossing”. RIP Stuart Adamson. “Some say protect and survive / I say it’s over.”
There's a ton... I recently did a couple CD's worth mixtape thingy... but I'll just suggest this one I wrote back when W was the Prez, and the worst prez ever... up to that point, and taking us into a war into the middle east on false pretenses. War = Peace by BROKENcUP https://brokencup.bandcamp.com/track/war-peace-2
Is it too cliché to say "Imagine"? It's always been one of my favorites, and I actually got to see the original lyrics written on paper by Lennon on display at the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame about 20 years ago.
How can I not suggest, Cat Stevens' "Peace Train"? And of course, "Give peace a chance", John Lennon.
Please add "Bring 'em home" -Bruce Springsteen

"Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)" (George Harrison).
Peacemaker by Hoyt Axton (1972)
Peace Sells by Megadeth (1986)
Peace Dog by The Cult (1987)
"......Peace is a dirty word. She used to be a painted bird. War, she's a whore. Don't you know we love her more and more."
I hope it’s not greedy to offer up 10,000 Maniacs’ haunting “The Big Parade” off the amazing “Blind Man’s Zoo” 1989 LP.
“How would life have ever been the same / if this wall had carved in it one less name?”
That song chokes me up every time
Me too

Great choice. Love that album

Get Together - The Youngbloods
Space Captain - from Mad Dogs and Englishmen
Lets Make a Better World - Dr John

'We Got to Have Peace' by Curtis Mayfield
'For What it's Worth' by Buffalo Springfield (I know it's not technically an 'anti-war' song but it's certainly an anthem for peace!)
'The Unknown Soldier' by The Doors
'One' by Metallica
...and because I'm Australian I've got to nominate at least one from the brilliant Midnight Oil ~
'U.S. Forces':
"U.S. forces give the nod
It's a setback for your country
Bombs and trenches all in rows
Bombs and threats still ask for more
Divided world the CIA
Who controls the issue
You leave us with no time to talk
You can write your own assessment
Sing me songs of no denying
Seems to me too many trying
Waiting for the next big thing..."
