I like the country/bluegrass stuff that never gets jammy. 'American Beauty' and 'Workingman's Dead' are pretty much the only records I can dig into at all. Even those, I have to pick and choose tracks.
I’m late to this but my first thought was “I Often Dream of Trains” by Robyn Hitchcock. I think I pick RH for all of your show topics. He’s got a song for everything.
Such a great list! Thanks. I recently played Love & Rockets' s/t assuming I would know every note, and had a pleasant surprise. Two moves and a breakup around that time means I halfowned for a bit but perhaps never played. Spectacular new discovery for me, whoever called it a pivot to AOR on Wikipedia obviously never listened to it, and the song Bound For Hell is a train banger.
Oooh I had forgotten about Peace Train by 10,000 Maniacs!
It's pretty great. It's my favorite version.
“Midnight Train To Georgia” Gladys Knight & The Pips
Casey Jones, Grateful Dead.
Honestly, one of the few Dead songs I genuinely enjoy.
You’re not a deadhead? What other GD songs do you enjoy?

Last Train by The Backsliders
Georgia On a Fast Train by Billy Joe Shaver
Nice!

Please, bring all of the RH tunes that fit the bill. I love that dude so very much.
Mystery Train, recorded by Elvis.
Hard to argue.
ok as usual late to the party. "City of New Orleans"-Steve Goodman
Never has one of these polls led to the same answer so many times, albeit by a few different artists. Helluva choice, Cindy.
LOVE YOU MADLY my friend and alpha house cohort!!!
There’s a lot of great bluegrass songs about trains. Below are just a few, some are not bluegrass.
1. “All Aboard” by Del McCoury
2. “Slow Train” performed by Billy Strings
3. “Train, Train” performed by Dolly Parton
4. “Freight Train" performed by David Grisman & Jerry Garcia
5. “That Old Train” by Del McCoury
6. “Train Junkie” by Greensky Blugrass
7. “Railroad of Sin” by Sturgill Simpson
8. “Runaway Train” by The Travelin’ McCourys
9. “Fast Train” by Fireside Collective
10. “Gospel Train” performed by Front Country (not quite bluegrass!)
11. “Train Song” performed by The California Honeydrops (not bluegrass!)
Can’t hear anything about Trains without thinking about my favorite book, "The Dharma Bums" by Jack Kerouac.
The Dharma Bums is a masterpiece.

Love & Rockets. Yes!
