I just saw he’s coming to Detroit next month. Jim and I were just talking about getting tickets.

I had forgotten about that. I might have to snag a ticket for that one. Might be the last opportunity.

Love all four of these albums, each one gets better and better. And "SNL style rock sax" reminded me that the *very* SNL sax on "Perspective" was played by none other than the oiled up swole guy from The Lost Boys.

No way? That is wild. Thanks so much for the info.

Fantastic overview - when these records where coming out the wonderful thing was that it was possible to make connections and follow all of the various artists as they released their own work, collaborated with others, etc. Good/bad today is that I'm often overwhelmed by the amount of material and the ease of access, and must be disciplined and a bit more... ruthless in giving material a chance. Tricky balance though.

Meanwhile, Gabriel's impact on cross pollinating, connecting, and creating music with a variety of artists reminds me of Jodorowski's similar role in the film world. Anywho... thanks for the article!

This 4-album run is amazing, and still holds up great decades later. I picked up a copy of Security recently and found myself happily surprised as I played it.

Also: "And Through the Wire" is one of my all time favorite PG tracks. Melt is arguably my favorite record of his. How did I not know Paul Weller played on it??

You learn something new everyday!

David Lord co produced Security with Gabriel. And Genesis was NOT his band. Tony Banks contributed vastly more material the band recorded than Gabriel ever did. Also, Tony Banks had wed his wife Margaret in 1972.
