Hannah and I dive head first to the opening film in the series. Join us as we visit a young Darth Vader in elementary school and take a look at how losing your mom to slavery might make you evil.
I'm a little late to the game. I wanted to re-watch the movie before listening to the pod. I remember it being bad, and it was far worse on the second viewing for me. All the things you both mention; Jar Jar, the dialogue, troublesome race issues. But the worst part for me the first time remained the worst part this time... The blatant, wholly unnecessary pandering to the child audience. Jar Jar's clumsy antics and lines like "exsqueeze me." Even worse are the alien races that are better served in an episode of Bananas In Pajamas or some other made-for-first-graders cartoon. The podrace sequence, which should have been one of the action highlights of the film, was ruined by these characters. The two-headed race announcer and nearly all of the racers were ridiculous. The adult audience was cast aside for profit and pandering.
This was a fun, and funny, listen about a movie I merely disliked that is now a movie I loathe.
Fun episode! For the record, here is a good summary of the Sith Jar Jar theory: https://youtu.be/8yy3q9f84EA?feature=shared

Your point about the childishness of the film is spot on. The 'Duck Tales' reference made me lol.
FWIW, I would recommend checking out the Jar Jar as Sith Lord theory.
