We didn't have Quiz Bowl in Indiana, but I participated in many academic competitions. Probably not shocking that we were a Trivial Pursuit household either.
I mostly felt awful because I felt like I had let everyone else down. And I was so angry that I had blurted out the wrong thing. But, who else do you know who has a quiz bowl reply story?
This is, indeed, a painful story. The stuff of nightmares. Or it’s hilarious depending on how you look at it. But I can totally understand why you wouldn’t have been laughing at the time. I guess it’s like they say: what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!
