Bracket Challenge: The Greatest Sci-Fi Film Of All Time (Round Two - Part Four)
Round two action wraps up this week with a blistering quartet of contests.
Welcome to the end of round two action, my friends.
This week, we have four more matchups littered with a bevy of sci-fi classics that span more than eight decades of filmmaking. But, before we roll on to this week’s contests, let’s take a look back at our results from last week’s action.
#3 Close Encounters of the Third Kind defeated #30 Godzilla (1954)
#14 Back To The Future defeated to #46 Wall-E
#11 Aliens defeated #22 The Fly
#6 Star Wars: A New Hope defeated #38 A Clockwork Orange
All of the favorites came through with flying colors in last week’s action. While none of these matches were blowouts, they were also never particularly close as we watched another fine foursome of films make their exit from the tournament.
Before we head to the matchups that will determine the last four entrants in our sweet sixteen, let’s take a look at where the bracket stands.
This week’s matchups feature a trailblazing silent epic, resurrected dinosaurs, a pair of peaceful alien visitors, a motorcycle mercenary, a trip to the nut house, and so much more. Let’s get to the ballot boxes.
Voting will remain open until September 17 at midnight. Let’s get to those ballot boxes.
Cheers,
Matty C
Be sure to let us know how you voted and why in the comments below. We’d love to hear you plug your picks for the films that should comprise our sweet sixteen.

#009 Six Questions with Hannah Carlson
Welcome back to Six Questions With Matty C. It’s a simple short-form interview show from the fine folks at What Am I Making.

I voted for The Terminator, Metropolis, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and (obviously) Blade Runner. But I am sorry that means Terry Gilliam is out of the running. He's a great director.
I knew none of my picks from last week would come through, but man, this week my love of Gilliam is making it harder!
As much as I adore Klaatu & Gort I had to go with Brazil...
...but Blade Runner - even with the crappy voice-over permanently imprinted in my brain, infecting my enjoyment of every later (and better) version - is going sneak ahead of my beloved 12 Monkeys... to be honest, I'm yet to commit to casting that final vote... I'll linger in cloud cuckoo land for a day or two longer!
