That was a tough round for my choices! As much as I love the Godfather films (and I understand why they are both still in the mix), I would rather watch One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest or The Exorcist. I’m not really a fan of Apocalypse Now and I feel it’s had an easier route to get to this point than the other films. I’m just glad Jaws is still in. Team Spielberg all the way!
I feel ya, Lou. In the second round, a bunch of my favorites went down. I am not mad about the final four, but it hasn't;t always been an easy ride. ;)
I, too, am not a fan of Apocalypse Now. I find it to be an overwrought fever-dream of stale masculinity. Cuckoo's Nest definitely deserved to go farther in the bracket.
That is a great description! It also accurately describes Heart of Darkness, the book on which the film is based. I know it’s a great film because it transplants that story so effectively to Vietnam and I find it an interesting film in that respect - but I still don’t like it.
Climate change is destroying our planet and humans are the cause. As we began our relentless march toward cranking up the heat, one shark had enough. Jaws fought back. That shark was a the chaotic neutral oceanic being that did its best to remove a handful of humans and protect its world from harm.
I will always stand behind this 4th of July masterpiece but going up against the Godfather monoliths of Coppola? They’re gonna need bigger vote.

#30 is the hardest choice I've had to make in one of these. 😬
Once we're down to Godfather vs. Jaws, there is no loser. A true clash of titans.
Not sure how I have missed this.
Folks who are voting for Jaws instead of the greatest film ever made … why?

These final four are not a surprise! They wouldn't be MINE but they are all very significant films.
