Tour Update - July 4, 2023

A quick recap of a wild start to my first ever full fledged solo tour.

After my Horrocks show in Lansing last Thursday, I headed down to Detroit for a show hosted by my friend, Jason Hammond on Friday night. I met Jason through my wife after they connected through their love for The Avett Bros. Music is the gift that keeps on giving.

Like Horrocks, I planned to play the Detroit show with Pops and Jason from the Stick Arounds. I have jokingly referred to this presentation as The Acousticks. That is some deep level cornball Dad shit right there. I love it.

Playing Sticks songs with my bandmates has become as comfortable for me as a cat having its stomach scratched for 45 straight minutes. Especially in these more intimate settings, the sensations from the songs have been heightened, and the ease with which we play in these settings is damn near blissful.

The three of us playing together in this more chill setting allows for more vocal experimentation between the three of us and the songs take on a completely different life. Being able to present our materi…
