
I arose fairly early, showered and prepped myself for a long day in the car. My hosts Mike and Julie we already awake and had coffee ready. We chatted a bit about our respective plans for the day. Julie fixed me a breakfast sandwich as I enjoyed my coffee and began to find my bearings.
As I packed up the last of my things and started to head for the door, Julie prepped me a load of goodies for the drive to Charlotte. She had wrapped the unfinished half of my bacon and egg sandwich and stashed it in a to go bag along with a granola bar, an apple, some mixed nuts, and a few grapes. Mike made me a freshly brewed ice tea. Julie filled my water bottle and stocked it with ice. I felt like a kid being sent off to school by his folks. It was wonderful.
