Tour Recap - Gainesville, FL and Savannah, GA
Two days in Gainesville featured drunken skee-ball, two outdoor shows in the Florida summer heat, and an elegant stroll through the Old South.
I pulled out of the Awendaw compound as the sun began to rise over the South Carolina coast. There was a light fog covering the ground. The air was perfectly still. The morning birds flitted and sang. Despite the heat of the day before, the morning air was cool.
Rain began to sprinkle down and eventually turned to full drops as I reached the center of downtown Charleston. My plan was to get out and walk around to check out some of the elegant old seaport. Sadly, Mother Nature had other ideas. So, I tooled around the downtown area for a bit to get a glimpse of Charleston and then directed the Buick onto State Hwy. 17 and points southward. By 9:30 am, I was parking the car along Bay Street in Savannah.
