They F**k You At The Drive-Thru
I cannot seem to find a reliable vehicle, a a trustworthy mechanic, or a dealer with a conscience. I'm disheartened, frustrated, and feeling a bit cursed. Things could be better.
I drive for a living. The majority of my income is made up from working in the gig economy, driving rideshare for Uber and Lyft. For a large chunk of my bread and butter, I also tour as a musician around the country playing my original songs. Between rideshare and touring, I will likely drive between 40,000 and 50,000 miles this year. That is if I can find a reliable car to make all that driving possible.
Currently, my vehicle is a 2011, Subaru Outback with something close 180,000 miles on it. I bought the car last July, and have been using it as my sole vehicle for ten months. Actually, to say that I “bought” the car would be something of a euphemism. I had actually bought a different Subaru Outback six weeks earlier, but it famously flamed out on me the first day of my 2023 tour!
