Peruvian Travel Diary: Lima
Ama and I enjoyed a second day in Lima filled with history, exploration, and surprisingly great food and drink before finding our way to the mountains.
Our second full day in Lima began at 9:00 am with a half day tour of the city and its historic center. We loaded the bus for the first stop; Love Park where Ama and I had explored the morning prior. After a brief visit hitting the same spots we had seen on Monday, we made a visit to Huaca Pucllana to see the outside of the ruins that we had also seen the day before. Apparently Ama and I had chosen well on our free day in Lima, as the first two stops on our city tour were repeats. Despite having already seen the opening pair of sites during the first hour of the tour, we found it relaxing, interesting and enjoyable.
Our next stop found us in the old city center of Lima. The gigantic square is surrounded on all four sides by a series of massive, ornate buildings. The Governmental Palace sat just ahead and to our left as we entered the square. An enormous black and gold iron gate stood closed across the front…
