What's Your Favorite Tune About Towns?
This week we take a ride through small towns across the world.
Do you have a favorite tune about a town? Maybe it’s a village near your home or a far flung burg somewhere halfway across the world. Either way, we’re taking to the streets of small towns everywhere this week on WAIM Radio.
In the small town of Sandusky, MI where I grew up in the late 70’s and early 80’s we had a dinky AM radio station that played easy listening crap for the old folks in town. We mocked it and laughed at it. The signal was only strong enough to reach the edge of our small town, but as dumb as the music as they played was, I was always impressed when walking by the tiny studio on the upstairs floor of the same building as the Sears Catalog store.
As I put this show together I thought about the summer days of small town life I’ve had throughout my life. No matter what town you grew up in, many of these experiences are universal. There is a bucolic safety that meets with a stuffy restraint and yearning to escape. We’ll cover all of that and more with a full hour of songs on towns.
Do you have a favorite? Specifically, do you have a jam you love that has the word Town in the title? Tell us all about it.
Be sure to tune in Friday live at Noon Eastern on Suburbs Radio to hear the show live as it airs. New episodes are also archived here at WAIM each Tuesday. Feel free to go back and listen to any of our episodes at any time in the WAIM Radio archive.
