WAIM Radio: What Song Sends You To The Stars?
This week at WAIM we are headed for a survey of the solar system and a survey of the outer galaxies. What song puts your head up in the stars?
I recently watched a multi-part documentary series called Chasing The Moon, about the early years of the American space program, and the race to put a man on the moon before the end of the 1960s. The film harkened back to an era when our national imagination and ingenuity made anything seem possible. As a collective people, we set our sights on landing a man on the moon by the end of 1969 and managed to succeed with five months to spare.
While it may not have yielded the scientific benefits we had hoped for, it remains a truly remarkable achievement and a shining symbol of the greatness we can achieve if we only commit ourselves to it. That search for knowledge and the adventure of a trip to space turned a generation of Americans back into children with hopes and dreams of the stars.
We’re jumping a rocket ship this week at WAIM Radio. No, we’re not hopping one of those new-fangled douche-mobile rockets accessible to the super rich. Instead, we’re taking a sonic journey to the stars to explore the galaxy in depth. So, strap yourself into your space suit and make ready for flight.
What song sends you to space? Do you have a tune that puts you smack dab in the midst of the vastness of the cosmos? Tell us all about.
Be sure to tune in Friday live at Noon Eastern on Suburbs Radio to hear the show live as it airs. New episodes are also archived here at WAIM each Tuesday. Feel free to go back and listen to any of our episodes at any time in the WAIM Radio archive.
